During the summer of 2018, I conducted undergraduate research with Professor Alan Marchiori as my faculty advisor. One major element of this research was researching the currently available PtP wireless technologies; primarily offerings from Ubiquiti Networks.
In addition to exploring the PtP technologies available to growing ISPs, I began to research the feasibility of a WISP in the Lewisburg, PA area. This research consisted of working with local government to determine regulations, using GIS to find viewshed limitations, and performing customer analysis and surveys to gauge interest.
One of Lewisburg's main parks - Hufnagle Park, is a primarily open area that sees thousands of visitors yearly. Working with the Lewisburg government, I developed a low-cost, easy-to-manage solution for networking the park and its visitors using a local wireless ISP as the backhaul network.
